Elbert County totals 1,851 square miles, which translates into plenty of commercial opportunities. Surrounded by interstates and rail, transportation corridors lend the county to numerous possibilities for access.

Town of Elizabeth has the most population of the three incorporated towns in the county. Elizabeth sits on the western edge of county, less than 5 miles to the Douglas County border.  Walmart, Taco Bell, Dairy Queen, Sonic, Safeway, Big R, AutoZone, and other major retailers and food services are available in the Elizabeth area.  McDonalds and Ziggi’s Coffee are opening soon. Opportunities exist in this part of the county for more retail, lodging, medical, and service offerings.  There are numerous single family housing options in the western section of the county from 5-10 acre ranchettes to more suburban housing developments with less acreage.  Newer subdivisions like Gold Creek, Independence, and Spring Valley Ranch provide for more traditional residential opportunities all within an approximate ten-mile range of Elizabeth.  State Highway 86 runs across the county through Elizabeth, connecting to Interstate 25 in the west and Interstate 70 in the east.  This is a transportation corridor that can benefit distribution, manufacturing, and warehousing facilities.

On the eastern side of the county Interstate 70 runs in a north/south direction, covering roughly 30 miles. The unincorporated town of Agate sits off I70 with its own interchange.  Union Pacific rail line runs through Agate and parallels Interstate 70.  This transport combination is an untapped resource and has potential for transloading and an industrial rail park.  Agate is also a great location for a truck stop and service station.
